  1. Last post? but where is a certain Regina nursing home going to get their menu ideas from! All seriousness aside thanks for the effort you've put into this, looking forward to seeing what's next for you.

    1. Thanks, Jim! And if that nursing home in Regina is ever looking for someone to do a cooking demo, well, you know where to find me.

  2. Brian, thanks for the memories. I laughed, I cried, I consumed tums & pepto bismol. Your blog has been a real treat! Best wishes on your next great adventure.

    1. Thank you, Madame M! I should've had this blog sponsored by Pepto Bismol, come to think of it. I could've been riding around in a new Chevette with all that money.

    1. You are very welcome, Gumbee. And yes, the blog will stay up. I'll do a little tinkering with it in the new year and then it shall remain a piece of history for future caker generations.

    1. Ironic, isn't it? Like that Alanis Morrisette song about the looking for a knife and all you find are spoons. I hate when that happens.

  6. Good luck to you Brian. I'll never look at a box of kitty litter quite the same again.

  7. Good night, sweet Caker Prince. Things won't be the same without you here on the internet. My thighs won't be the same, either. Good luck with your next adventure!

    1. Thanks, Tracey. When my thighs get a little too big for my Jordache jeans, I just give 'em a squirt of Pam. Works every time.

    1. I'm sorry to do this at such a pivotal moment, Vicki. And here I thought "open can and dump contents" was part of a universal language.

  11. Sniiiffffff! Say it ain't so, Brian! (Damn, who is cutting onions?)

In all seriousness, thank you for several years of gut-busting recipes and humor. I, too, look forward to your next adventure.

    1. You're welcome. Hopefully, the laughs lasted longer than the indigestion, but considering this blog, probably not.

  13. Oh dear, what a shame, as i have only just accidentally happened upon your blog - while searching for, yes, tomato-based cake recipes - a week and a half too late! I'm laughing so hard the tears are streaming and i am so off my rocker. For a Minnesotan (we've a lotta crossover cuisine) now transplanted to North Queensferry, Scotland, your recipes and writings are a great antidote to the occasional bouts of homesickness. And a super reference for my local pals - i'll be showing everyone at next Monday's birthday cake club. I'm sorry you've stopped the blog, but hope you keep it up for a long time to come. I've some catching up to do.

    1. Thanks, Kari Ann! And happy to hear your search for tomato cake brought you here. I like the sounds of a birthday cake club. I'm guessing there's a lot of cake served at your meeting?

    1. You are very welcome. I'd like to think I featured every shade of beige that was humanly possible on this blog. And Mother always said I was going to be an underachiever...
